This 1992 Boston Whaler Guardian 250 was purchased by DHS and was used by the Navy in New York. These vessels were built as a commercial-grade workboats designed for police, military, rescue, and government service, not just recreational boating. Based on the legendary Boston Whaler "unsinkable" hull design, the Guardian 250 features foam-filled fiberglass construction that provides exceptional strength, rigidity, and flotation even in extreme conditions.

What separates the Guardian series from standard recreational Whalers is its heavier-duty commercial layup. These boats were reinforced with additional fiberglass, resin, and impact protection in high-stress areas to withstand beach landings, rough offshore use, towing, and constant commercial operation. Owners and commercial operators frequently describe the Guardian hulls as "bulletproof" because of their ability to handle abuse while maintaining structural integrity decades later.

Even today, the Guardian 250 is highly respected for its rugged reliability, stable ride, self-bailing deck, and long service life. Many of these early-1990s commercial Whalers remain in active use because their hulls were intentionally overbuilt, far beyond the standards of typical recreational boats of that era.
